How can you profit from research and development?

• Does your company invest in technological research & development?
• Do you consider developing a new or better product or service and do you have to solve technological issues for that?
• Do you want to improve your production process and does this require technological knowledge and tests?
• Do you want to enhance the scientific-technological competence of your company and do you consider to hire an academic engineer for this?
• Do you consider to start a new company, or did you recently, to commercialise an innovative technological product or service?
• Do you want to cooperate with foreign companies, universities or research centres to acquire new knowledge or to enlarge your network?

If you answer ‘yes’ to one of these questions, it is most likely that you qualify for regional or European funding for your initiative(s). In Flanders the Institute for the Promotion of Innovation by Science and Technology in Flanders, briefly IWT, grants financial support to companies and organisations for executing industrial research, development projects and feasibility studies. Furthermore the European Commission offers diverse instruments, especially the Seventh Framework Program, to support innovative initiatives.
