Innovation Highlights_____________
Touch and rise hazard sensor
Celebrity’s range of ‘Lift and Tilt’ reclining chairs can now have a new, optional safety feature fitted to its ‘Dorchester’ and “Woburn’ Models. ‘Touch and Rise’ is a revolutionary new touch sensitive hazard sensor that uses Elektex award winning technology from Eleksen. The sensor reacts to any obstruction that prevents the chair form descending and automatically raises the chair 25mm (1”) to reduce the possibility of any accidents or damage to the chair.

Trend: Smart Materials
Materials increasingly evolve from passive to full adaptive materials. E.g. shape memory alloys and thermo chromic materials. The advantage of this chair is that it will prevent destroying objects that are under the chair and so you won't have to clean up.

"De Post" has presented it's scented stamps that will be released in april, 2 weeks before the opening of the Floralies of Ghent. This is an During the print process, a perfume of roses is added through which the adorable scent is emitted after scratching a few times. There will be three variations of the stamp, each with a picture of another rose. The goal is that the scent stands during the whole sending so that the receiver still can enjoy the scent. The price of the scenting stamps is equal to other stamps.
The Swiss preceded the Belgians in 2001 with chocolate scenting stamps. Their stamps looked and scented like chocolate. Maybe they should have tasted like chocolate as well.

Trend: Increasing use of senses
Using more senses has more advantages. By making these stamps flowerily scented, you improve the interaction between sender and receiver, you increase human involvement and you add a more sensual dimension to your message and improve realism of simulation.

Ideal solutions do things themselves
Ideally we achieve desired functions without cost or harm, then we often derive statements like ‘the system achieves the function itself', or ‘the problem resolves itself'.

adidas_1, the World's First Intelligent Shoe
Adidas has launched the intelligent shoe it unveiled last year. Known as adidas_1, the shoe provides "intelligent cushioning" by automatically and continuously adjusting itself. It does so by sensing the cushioning level, using sensors. It then calculates whether the cushioning level is too soft or too firm via a microprocessor and adapts with a motor-driven cable system to provide the correct cushioning for the specific purpose at that time. A prime example of the convergence process in which computers are embedded in everyday objects to enable them to play their role more effectively, the adidas shoe is one of a number of intelligent clothing items arriving at market this year.

Trend: Smart Materials
Materials increasingly evolve from passive to full adaptive materials. E.g. shape memory alloys and thermo chromic materials. The advantage of this shoe is that the sensors and the microprocessor will adapt the cushioning in the shoe.
