Our new array of patent analysis servers have just arrived on this
carton pallet box. This new generation of pallets integrate the
function of the box and pallet in one convenient solution that is both
lighter and more efficient to deliver.
This is Norbert, one of our new patent analysis
servers.
Property spectrum: Number of functions
This property describes integrating different functions in your product
or service to increase the user convenience. Some of the benefits of
adding additional functions are: reducing number of systems required,
improved operability or creating synergies.

Ultra-thin DVD stacks approach terabyte level
The development of new volume optical storage technology has been
announced by Hitachi Maxell, Ltd. The storage technology can provide
terabyte-level storage capacity in a
compact device. Relying on unique nanoimprint technology, the company
has succeeded in reducing the thickness of DVDs to 0.092 mm. That is
1/13th the thickness of current DVDs while maintaining the standard
capacity of 4,7 GB.
The system features Stacked Volumetric Optical Disc (SVOD) technology,
which consists of 100 ultra-thin optical discs loaded into a 6,5 cm
thick cartridge. The result is a compact optical disc library system
(1/10th the conventional size) capable of combining random access
memory and long-term storage. When laminated on both sides, disc
capacity will reach 9,4 GB, bringing the 100-disc cartridge up to
near-terabyte level with 940 GB of storage.

Property spectrum: Size
Stacking a growing amount of very thin disks allows the Hitachi Maxell
to create a storage medium that approaches one terabyte. By combining
multiple property changes, in this case size and multiplicity, the
advantages are even more outspoken.

Vertical-axis wind turbine
An elegant vertical-axis wind turbine, quietrevolution
has been designed and developed by XCO2, an established low-carbon
energy consultancy and engineering practice. Virtually silent and
vibration free, quietrevolution is ideally suited to both urban sites and exposed locations.
The
simple and robust design (patent pending) has just one moving part,
maximising reliability and minimising maintenance requirements.
Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) embedded in each of its three S-shaped blades
fire in sequence as the blades rotate, painting a video screen that
appears to hang in the air. This full colour and motion image is
clearly visible day and night.

Property spectrum: Dimensions
Geometric improvement of your product is another important innovator.
Changing the dimensions of it to 2D or 3D, will improve compatibility
with 'real world' effects. Other examples of changing dimensions are:
paper binders, windscreens for cars and CAD systems.

Flashlight that never needs batteries
The LED Forever Flashlight uses the Faraday Principle of
Electromagnetic Energy that guarantees replacement parts will never be
needed! The Forever Flashlight uses electromagnetic energy created by
you to produce light on demand.
Just shake the flashlight back and forth for 15-30 seconds, and enough
electricity is generated to light its bright blue LED bulb for up to
five minutes of continuous use.

Property Spectrum: Action coordination
This principle describes the coordination between components,
systems, and their environments towards a common goal. Evolution is from
non-coordinated action between subsystem, system, and super-system elements to
increasing coordination and synergy between them.

This month we selected the submission of
Koen Van den Heuvel from Cochlear
.
The
building-wide system is composed of (at least) two devices; each is an
array of five collapsible cabins n and the system is permanently stored
on the roof in a folded position. Upon
deployment, each array is lowered to the ground. It then unfolds,
enabling emergency responders to board the cabins. It travels upwards
until it stops opposite five elevated floors simultaneously, enabling
300 occupants to enter through specially configured exit windows. Each
array is then lowered to
the ground and tenants exit as it refolds.

CREAX seminar
If you enjoy CREAX newsletters, you will enjoy our hands-on
Systematic Innovation seminar. Our next 2days seminar is scheduled for
the 21st & 22nd of June.
CREAX also offers exclusive company specific corporate seminars.
Participants learn how to apply the Systematic Innovation Methodology
in their day-to-day job in an interactive way. (more info)
" Very nice methodology, very inspiring company. "
Merijn V.D., Idex Corporation, The Netherlands |
Over
the last years, over 500 people subscribed and participated with
enthusiasm to the Systematic Innovation Methodology seminars. CREAX
trains people both during company-specific in-house seminars, and open
training seminars:
European Research & Innovation Exhibition
CREAX will be present at the 2nd European Research & Innovation Exhibition in Paris (France). The exhibition will take place from 8 till 11 June 2006. Join us at booth F61.
CREAX offices expand
CREAX
has been growing fast the last couple of years and the company will be
expanding its offices. The extra building will provide an open and
creative space for further growth. The main reason is the start of the
innovation school later this year. The actual renovation works are
planned to start later this month.
